Or, you can compare it to known other period originals......

Great, thanks for the info. I was just comparing it to a repro that I have and they're not even close. I'm getting "patch paranoia". :)

Looking at the cable count, the overall embr, and other characteristics, it's a period original.

Recently found this one in a tub of patches. I know these are faked out the wazoo and I don't really have much to compare it to as I've only encountered one original. It appears to be uniform removed but I'm a bit iffy about it. Any input or images of originals would be greatly appreciated.

The "Kommando Cyber- und Informationsraum" (Cyber and Information Space Command) was established as a separate Bundeswehr military branch in April 2017.

This is the new CIR beret insignia, worn on the dark blue beret.

Thank you for correcting my misidentification.

I was going to ask for a reference that pointed me to the source as I wanted to make a note of it in my files but I found it when I did a Google search.

For anyone else that is interested here is a web link that shows an insignia card identifying this hallmark. Scroll down to post #4

Many thanks.

Josiah Odence, Inc.
Brooklyn, NY, San Diego, CA  and Sacramento, CA
For many years this hallmark was identified as belonging to J. O’Brian Badge Company of Madison NJ which operated during WWII. Recently it was found that this belongs to this company that was a “Distributor of Military Insignia - New York & San Diego”. In June 1938 the company was listed as leasing manufacturing space in Brooklyn, NY and in 1948 as being incorporated in Sacramento, CA. No end date is shown for the incorporation.
