Gidday all

Here are two German made

First one is 40-50's the second is a nice 60's and 70's.

With German made patches Im not to sure when they ar made as I have assumed they were occupation period but they tend to be a better quality hence could  be late 40's onwards.
Hence I have shown a 60's 70's variant whih I quite like.
Any thought

U.S. Army / Hawaiian/24th Division
« on: December 28, 2015, 02:46:21 pm »
Hi all

Here are some of my Hawaiian/24th Division felt on felt patches.

What I like is the different colour and  hand cut shapes of the taro leaf.

Hi all

I have added British Airborne to my collection as I feel they are true Brothers In Arms with US Airborne.

Just a note the printed Airborne strip is for enlisted and goes with the Printed Pegasus.

The felt Pegasus is for officers and regarded as a private purchase opposed to Enlisted government contract.

The para wing is WWII.

Believe me it was a mission trying to figure out pre 1945 WWII airborne and it is an area where research has to be paramount as they have IDed 1946/47 era Pegasus formation signs.

Please post more British cloth insignia  here.

U.S. Army / Twill patches that you really don't see much of
« on: December 27, 2015, 09:13:31 pm »
Hi all

I have had this with the airborne tab and put it as XVIIIth Airborne Corp, however I think this could be for XVIIIth Infantry Corp.

Also the mid 50's 101st Airborne Division , training , note I added the tab and possibly should not have one.

Any Ideas on both should they be with or with out tabs.

Also post real odd ball twill patches here from any era.

When I first started collecting US Army patches (1985) I only had one reference book Britton and Washington Third Edition(1981).

In there was one patch that fired my imagination for collecting and that was Airborne Recon 327th Infantry , well its taken me 30 yrs to get an original and I still have my Britton and Washington book.

I don't know why , maybe because of the cartoon caricature , the colour , the overall symbology.

Post your patch that inspired you to collect and why.

U.S. Army / 1st Division WWI patch
« on: December 14, 2015, 12:10:49 am »
Hi all

Here's my 1st Division patch.

Its thin red cloth 1 on thin OD(?) felt.

The interesting part is that this was in 2 pieces and then a "bandage" backing glued to it. I wonder if this was the norm to salvage the patch for more use.

Would be good to see more BRO and especially any odd ball variant.
